Book Club

THE DANCING WORDS

The LSG book club was launched on the 18th of June 2016 under the leadership of Abhilasha Sethia. In keeping with the LSG guiding principle of expanding horizons, providing new perspectives and forging friendships among its members, the book club provides the perfect vehicle to realize these objectives.

The primary objective of the book club is of course to encourage members to read more and widely, using the meetings as an opportunity to initiate and promote meaningful interaction among them. The other goal is also to help drive literacy programmes at orphanages and other schools for the underprivileged. The book donation drive was successfully launched for the paediatric patients at the Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre & Research Institute in Thakurpukur, Kolkata.

The book club group is called The Dancing Words and currently there are 135 members. A book is selected by a Book Club Committee a month in advance and meetings are held in smaller localized groups where a member is nominated to champion the book and guide the discussion.
